Come and play! Who? You – little ones, and you, the big ones with them!

Thu 24 July – Sun 3 Aug, 14:00-17:00

Parnie Street, in the heart of the Merchant City, will become an outdoor play area with totally new games designed especially for the festival – and for all ages. Made by some of the UK’s most talented outdoor game designers, Scotch Hoppers has been inspired by traditional street games, and is an exciting and original re-discovery of what it is really like to play in the city, in the Summer…so come with friends, family, or just you.

Our company of facilitators; Salma Faraji, Pip Hill and Pete Lannon, will be there to help and encourage people of all ages to get playing!

An audio description for the games will be available, just ask when you arrive.

Scotch Hoppers Workshop Programme

Weekdays from 24 July  – 1 Aug, 13:00 – 13:45, Free

For Surge 2014, Stillmotion will present a series of interactive workshops exploring physical movement, play and story telling for people of all ages and experiences. Inspired by traditional street games, participants will work with stillmotion’s inspiring dancers and performers to explore the objects and games that are part of the Scotch Hoppers play area, and experiment with new ways of moving and playing creatively in the street, on a summer’s day.

For more information, dates and times visit the Scotch Hoppers Workshop page.

During the project the facilitators have been gathering stories and information about games from around the world.
